We are looking for people who areexcited about writing, who would like to work together to stretch their wingsand build their writing skills. TheDetails:
What: Five week workshop taught by Portland author Susan Blackaby. Participantswill be given the opportunity to interact hands-on with professional publishedauthors (additional authors in residence TBA). Workshop classes will focus onwriting skills, editing, forming a writing community and publishing.
Who: We are looking for people who arepassionate about writing. There is no pre-requisite for this course, because itis designed to work with participants at their own level. We ask only that youcome willing to write, share and learn. Maximum workshop size: 15
When: Wednesday evenings 7:00pm to8:30pm.Starts May 18th, ends June 15th.
Where: St. Helens Book Shop
Cost: $150 (includes all required readingmaterials) Payment required to reserve a space.
Author John Green’s advice for aspiring writers:
"Try to experience a lot of heartbreak and woe.Ideally, there should also be some weeping and gnashing of the teeth. Thatstuff will come in handy later. But the most important thing is to read. That'strue whether you're an aspiring writer or a working one. Reading is the only apprenticeship thatwriters have."
